Description
A unique Art Nouveau art glass vase by Émile Gallé from the late 19th century. A delicately rendered mountain landscape unfolds on the surface of the multi-layered, acid-etched glass, featuring a pine forest, a stream, and mountain ranges rising in the background. The harmonious color transition between the opalescent background and the amber-colored neck lends the piece a unique depth and elegance. The decoration is titled “The Blue Range of the Vosges,” a motif that, in Gallé’s oeuvre, conveys not only the beauty of nature but also historical symbolism. The Nancy-based master was one of the most significant glass artists of the French Art Nouveau movement; his works can now be found in the world’s leading museums and prestigious private collections. This vase is an outstanding example of the high-quality glass art produced by the Gallé workshop and of the era’s exceptional works of applied art.
