Description

A rare, hand-embroidered Austro-Hungarian naval commemorative flag commemorating the service of the SMS Franz Ferdinand. At the center of the composition are a portrait of a sailor and a depiction of the warship; above them are the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Hungary and the emblems of the Imperial and Royal Navy. The flag is surrounded by national flags symbolizing the ship’s routes and ports of call.

The commemorative flag also bears the owner's name (István Igaz) and his years of service (1910–1914).
